Minister of Islamic Affairs Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed announced the decision to establish the guideline.
Fund boxes are commonly set up in mosques to raise money for various charitable causes.
Shaheem said that the number of organizations seeking permission to place such boxes has been increasing.
Under the new guideline, fund boxes will be allowed to be set up in mosques after providing details on how the collected funds will be utilized.
